Melville Castle

You will find Melville Castle Hotel an excellent location from which to explore some of the very finest tourist attractions in Scotland. If a day without too much driving appeals, perhaps take a short trip to the Falkirk Wheel, or make a visit over the Forth Road Bridge to St Andrews, the Home of Golf. The Falkirk Wheel offers the only rotating boat lift in the world and is a wonderful day out with bikes to hire, an enormous children’s play area, a restaurant and excellent display area as well as the wheel itself to ride on.

Enjoy all that is the sensational Capital City of Edinburgh with its famous castle, the glorious Princess Street, superb shopping and numerous free museums. A little further afield is the great city of Glasgow - renowned for its excellent shopping and architecture (Buchanan Street Galleries and the Charles Rennie Mackintosh trail are highly recommended) comfortably under an hour by car.

Visit Stirling, with the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle (arguably the best in Scotland). If you wish a day on the coast you can reach the picturesque beaches of Fife well within an hour. The Trossachs, Perth, and New Lanark are all within one hour’s drive of the hotel, with the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond not much longer.

Even the ski slopes of Glenshee and Aviemore, the delights of Highland Perthshire and Pitlochry, and the picture postcard Royal Deeside and Balmoral Castle - are also perfectly reachable in a day trip.

We can also arrange horse riding at nearby stables, a superb classic car or open top convertible for a stunning day’s big country touring - or even you very own skippered luxury boat on Loch Lomond for the day.
